Abstract:A modified static polarizing wind imaging interferometer (SPWII) for measuring the upper atmospheric wind and temperature is presented. The atmospheric temperature and wind velocity can be derived by observing multiple emission lines. The principle of the SPWII is described. The effects of the dispersion of the quarter wave plates on the derived results are analyzed. Using a simulated annealing algorithm, some multilayer achromatic quarter wave plates (AQWPs) are designed to suppress the errors introduced by t… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
