Feasibility of CardioSecur®, a Mobile 4-Electrode/22-Lead ECG Device, in the Prehospital Emergency Setting

Abstract: Background: This study explores the application of CardioSecur ® (CS-ECG), a hand-held 4-electrode/22-lead ECG-device, in comparison with conventional 12-lead electrocardiogram (c12L-ECG) in patients with acute chest pain in the prehospital emergency setting. Methods: CS-ECG systems were provided for two physician-staffed emergency ambulances and parallel recordings of c12L-ECG and CS-ECG were obtained from all patients with acute chest pain. Treating emergency physicians were asked to evaluate the CS-ECG syst… Show more

“…Assessment of physician preferences is an essential step in implementing novel medical devices. It has been demonstrated that the adoption of new technologies by clinicians is influenced by the perceived benefit to the patient and how easy it is to use the device 12 . This study shows that ease of use is a major factor in physician preferences regarding powered IO systems.…”

“…It has been demonstrated that the adoption of new technologies by clinicians is influenced by the perceived benefit to the patient and how easy it is to use the device. 12 This study shows that ease of use is a major factor in physician preferences regarding powered IO systems. This is consistent with the findings from previous studies evaluating preferences for IO system features, 13 , 14 which suggest that clinicians prefer features that enhance ease of use.…”

“…22-Kanal-EKG zu generieren. Der Nutzen dieser vereinfachten EKG-Ableitung im klinischen Einsatz konnte kürzlich gezeigt werden[59]. Andere Systeme nutzen beispielsweise adhäsive Patches, Brustbänder, Armbänder oder auch Hemden mit integrierten Elektroden[9,17,19,28,43].Weiter verbreitet sind die Hand-oder Daumen-EKGs.…”

“…These time delays reported are significantly shorter than in our real-world cohort and thus the effect of pre-hospital ticagrelor could have been blunted in this study [8] . The increasing availability and use of ECG-mobile devices may also be help tool in the early identification and thus improved outcomes of STEMI patients [9] . Further studies are needed to validate this.…”
