“…BORIC ACID WAS the standard chemical used for control of larval muscoid fly populations in manure (Bishopp 1939, Midgley et al 1943, sewage sludge (Olson & Dahms 1945) and compost (Lai & Srivastava 1950) until DDT and other chlorinated hydrocarbon pesticides became available (McGovran & Piquett 1945).
