“…In 1999, Anwar & Teichman introduced modification of the DALK technique, described as the big-bubble method [ 4 ]. During this surgical procedure, the separation of Descemet’s membrane from the posterior corneal stroma is performed by the injection of air into the deep corneal stroma.…”

“…Not unexpectedly, the rate of suture revision was similar in both groups given that grafts were sutured in the same fashion by the same surgeon, and it was similar to literature values. 25 Once sutures were removed, the topographic and refractive analysis does not show any significant difference between laser-assisted and manual procedures, but BCVA was evidently increased in F-DALK. Central 6.2 mm graft clarity, without any CoNV or persistent epithelial defect episode, can explain such difference.…”

“…Therefore, our M-DALK group has a slightly higher frequency of IOP lowering medications compared to literature. 10,25 Our study has some limitations, as it has a retrospective design and relatively small sample sizes, as well as postoperative and intraoperative changes according to KC stages, were not evaluated.…”

“…Notedly, Neoring was initially conceived for the PD-DALK technique because it is implanted in a PD pocket. However, it should be noted that femtosecond laser can be safely and effectively used to create cutting patterns ( 31 ) in the host and donor corneas that might allow Neoring implantation in a PD pocket in the periphery, leaving bared a central region of Descemet's membrane. Hence, we consider it interesting to evaluate the outcomes of Neoring implantation in femtosecond laser-assisted DALK using those cutting patterns ( 31 ) in future studies.…”
