Abstract:The general structure of the s-wave fermionic superfluid pairing order parameter is discussed for systems in thermal equilibrium. We demonstrate that for finite-size systems with fixed boundary conditions the pairing-amplitude may always be chosen as a real function in space, in contrast to systems underlying periodic boundary conditions, with drastical consequences for several postulated Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov (FFLO) states. Using a simple mapping, we also investigate the consequences of our results… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
