“…Cladonema radiatum was more abundant in July, when salinity showed the lowest values and temperature ranged from 29.3 to 30.2 °C. The temperature values recorded during July in Chelem match with those recorded by Bittencourt-Farias et al (2020) in the South Atlantic Ocean. However, temperature in Chelem was lower than that recorded by Ghory et al (2020) in the Arabian Sea.…”

Cladonema radiatum was first described in the Mediterranean, St. Malo and Lorient (France) (Dujardin 1843).…”

“…Pseudocyclops have been sampled with the usual plankton vertical tows (Esterly, 1911; Gurney, 1927; Sewell, 1932; Bowman and González, 1961; Vervoort, 1964; Yeatman, 1975; Dawson, 1977; Alldredge and King, 1980; Othman and Greenwood, 1989; Haridas et al ., 1994; Campolmi et al ., 2001; Zagami et al ., 2008; Brugnano et al ., 2010), hand tows (Bowman and González, 1961; Ohtsuka et al ., 1999) and the scraping of fouling community on moored posts (Zagami et al ., 2005). However, due to its characteristically vertical migration behaviour, the use of demersal traps is a much more adequate method of sampling not only Pseudocyclops but all demersal zooplankton (Youngbluth, 1982; Farias et al ., 2020). In this study, using emergence traps we found a higher number of specimens than previously recorded in the literature for this family.…”

“…Historically, planktonic cnidarian biodiversity from tropical areas in the western border of the Atlantic Ocean were understudied comparing to subtropical and temperate provinces. With recent progress in oceanographic research in Northeast Brazil this situation started changing not only for cnidarians (e.g., Farias et al, 2020;Tosetto et al, 2018Tosetto et al, , 2020Tosetto et al, , 2021aTosetto et al, , 2021b but also for other marine animals (e.g., Eduardo et al, 2018Eduardo et al, , 2020Alves-Jr. et al, 2019. Thus, the current report contributes not only to the understanding of local biodiversity, but also for an adequate comprehension of regional and global biogeographic and diversity patterns.…”
