Croton bonplandianum and Eclipta prostrata in India and Pakistan, respectively (Haider et al, 2006;Reddy et al, 2005). “…Interestingly, it showed only 68% and 45% nsi, respectively, with the CP gene (AM259382) and betasatellite (AJ967003) of the begomovirus complex associated with Sida yellow vein disease originated from southern India (unpublished). The CP gene of the begomovirus associated with Eclipta yellow vein disease in eastern India (EU188920) showed its close relationship (95% nsi) with Alternanthera yellow vein virus which infects Eclipta plants in China (EU286797) (unpublished) and a distant relationship (only 63% nsi) with Tomato leaf curl New Delhi virus (AJ889185) which infects Eclipta plants in Pakistan(Haider et al 2006). Therefore, the present begomovirus isolate which clustered with New World begomoviruses in the phylogenetic tree is probably an isolate of Alternanthera yellow vein virus although full genome sequence is required to confirm its identity.…”
