Abstract:The resistance of a coronary stenosis capable of passive vasomotion may change in response to alterations in intraluminal pressure. We studied the effects of a fall in perfusion pressure on the hemodynamics of two types of coronary stenosis in 12 open chest dogs: 1) a stenosis produced by placing a soft wire snare around the artery, and 2) a stenosis that was fixed in severity, produced by introducing and tying a short section of hollow plastic tubing into the coronary artery. Aortic pressure, coronary pressur… Show more
“…Walinsky et al (1979) did suggest that collaterals have a limited role during distal vasodilation. Vasodilation caused by drug infusion, ischemia or hypoxia was associated with normal pressure and re sistance decreases distal to the stenosis along with increased stenosis resistance (Young, 1979;Schwartz et al, 1979Schwartz et al, , 1980. This led to potentiation of the hemodynamic severity of the stenosis.…”

This was produced from a copy of a document sent to us for microfilming. While the most advanced technological means to photograph and reproduce this document have been used, the quality is heavily dependent upon the quality of the material submitted. The following explanation of techniques is provided to help you understand markings or notations which may appear on this reproduction. 1.The sign or "target" for pages apparently lacking from the document photographed is "Missing Page(s)". If it was possible to obtain the missing page(s) or section, they are spliced into the film along with adjacent pages. This may have necessitated cutting through an image and duplicating adjacent pages to assure you of complete continuity.
