“…This inhibitory action of EZA against lipase activity was related to the presence polyphenols and flavonoid compounds in EZA (Table 2). This investigation was in agreement with previous data reporting that alcohol extract of Zygophyllum album contains various flavonoid substances such as quercitin-3-O-rutinoside, isorhamnetin-3-O-rutinoside, quinovic acid, kaempherol, Zygophyllin, β -sistosterol- β -D-glucopyranoside, Carbohydrates, and tannins [1316]. Previous data reported that the presence of many flavonoids and polyphenol chemical structures was required for the enhancement of pancreatic lipase inhibition [28, 29].…”

“…The main constituents described from Zygophyllum species are zygophyllin, quinovic acid, and glycosides, which have been demonstrated to have anti-inflammatory and antipyretic activity [14]. Furthermore, seven flavonoids together with two phenolic acids were isolated from Zygophyllum album L and identified as  quercetin, quercetin-3,7-di-O- β -glucopyranoside, isorhamnetin-3-O- β -galactopyranoside, isorhamnetin-3-O- β -glucopyranoside and isorhamnetin-3-O- α -rhamnopyranosyl-(1/6)-O- β -glucopyranoside (isorhamnetin-3-O-rutinoside), isorhamnetin-3-O- α -rhamnopyranosyl-(1/6)-O- β -galactopyranoside (isorhamnetin 3-O-robinoside), isorhamnetin-3-O- β -glucopyranoside-7-O- α -rhamnopyranoside, gentisic acid, and gentisic acid 5-O- α -rhamnopyranoside [1416]. In fact, Zygophyllum album is widespread in the deserts and salt marshes of southern Tunisia.…”

“…Their structures were elucidated by chemical and spectroscopic techniques (Mabry et al 1970;Agrawal & Bansal 1989;Markham & Geiger 1994), and identified as isorhamnetin-3-O-b-glucopyranoside-7-O-a-rhamnopyranoside (1), isorhamnetin-3-O-a-rhamnopyranoside-7-Ob-glucopyranoside (2), kaempferol-3,7-di-O-a-rhamnopyranoside (3), isorhamnetin-3-O-b-glucopyranoside (4), kaempferol-3-Ob-glucopyranoside (5), isorhamnetin (6) and kaempferol (7). Spectral data of the isolated flavonoids were consistent with those previously published (Beninger et al 1998;Hussein et al 2009Hussein et al , 2011Yi et al 2011).…”

“…Seven known triterpene glycosides were identified as, quinovic acid‐3‐ O ‐β‐D‐glucopyranosyl‐(28 → 1)‐β‐D‐glucopyranosyl ester ( 2 ), quinovic acid‐3‐ O ‐β‐D‐quinovopyranosyl‐(28 → 1)‐β‐D‐glucopyranosyl ester ( 3 ), quinovic acid‐3‐ O ‐β‐D‐glucopyranoside ( 4 ), quinovic acid‐3‐ O ‐β‐D‐2‐ O ‐sulphonylquinovopyranoside ( 5 ), quinovic acid‐3‐ O ‐β‐D‐quinovopyranoside ( 6 ), quinovic acid‐3‐[β‐D‐xylopyranosyl (1 → 2)‐quinovopyranosyl]‐(28 → 1)‐β‐D‐glucopyranosyl ester ( 7 ), quinovic acid‐3‐ O ‐β‐D‐quinovopyranosyl‐(27 → 1)‐β‐D‐glucopyranosyl ester ( 8 ) by comparing their NMR data with those of reported . A known flavonoid glycoside, isorhamnetine rutinoside ( 9 ), was also identified by spectroscopic data analyses and comparison with literature …”
