Fluorescence imaging of gas-phase molecules produced by matrix-assisted laser desorption

Abstract: In the analysis of large biomolecules, one important aspect is the determination of molecular weight. An excellent tool for determining molecular weights is mass spectrometry (MS).One requirement for MS analysis is that the sample either be itselfin the gas phase or can be converted to the gas phase.
