Fluorescent, Theoretical and Structural Investigations on [Me4bim][CdCl4] (Me4bim = 1,1′,3,3′-tetramethyl-2,2′-bi-1H-imidazolium)

Abstract: The compound [Me 4 bim][CdCl 4 ] (Me 4 bim = 1,1′,3,3′-tetramethyl-2,2′-bi-1H-imidazolium), has been prepared via a solvothermal reaction and has an isolated (0-D) structure. It displays an emission in the blue region that is ascribed to ligand-to-ligand charge transfer on the basis of a theoretical investigation. Fig. 4 The electron-density distribution of HOMO-1 (left) and LUMO (right) calculated for 1. The isosurfaces correspond to electronic density differences of -0.015 eÅ −3 (blue) and +0.015 eÅ −3 (red). Show more

“…[1][2][3][4][5][6] 2,2′-Biimidazole is a very useful building block in constructing new coordination complexes because its four nitrogen atoms allow it to coordinate to a range of metal ions. [7][8][9][10][11][12][13] Zinc possesses various coordination numbers together with fluorescence and photoelectric properties and has vital roles in biological systems. Blue fluorescent materials have been of intensive interest for several decades due to their use in full-colour electroluminescent displays.…”
