“…Historically, humans have been using fire as a management tool to explore new territories and to adapt them to their changing lifestyle (Costa, Castellnou, Larrañaga, Miralles, & Kraus, 2011;Tedim, Xanthopoulos, & Leone, 2014). In the Iberian Peninsula, there is evidence of anthropic activity related to fire uses since the middle Pleistocene (López-Saéz et al, 2014;Pausas & Keeley, 2009;Raposo & Santonja, 1995) and fire use practices for different management purposes have always been at the origin of wildfires (Badia, Pèlachs, Vera, Tulla, & Soriano, 2014;Carracedo Martín, 2015).…”

“…It is evident that the majority of fires are human induced; the Mediterranean region accounts for the larger proportion of human-caused fires in the world (95%) (Leone et al, 2009). In most of European countries, forest fire outbreaks result from human activities without intention to provoke damage (i.e., they start by accident, negligent actions, or risk behavior) (Tedim et al, 2015). The increase in the number of wildfire hazards in recent years has brought a combined results of the ever-larger droughts and all-pervading reporting (Mockenhaupt, 2014), which has called forth the increased number of remedial methods in dealing with fires.…”

“…At the beginning of this century a large-scale flooding period and forest fires started this is why the European Parliament had to adopt the "European Parliament resolution on Natural Disasters (fires, droughts, and floods) environmental aspects (2005/2192(INI))". To protect the forests throughout the EU is one of the most crucial actions of the EU Forest Action Plan, in which the member states are invited to support forest fire prevention measures, restoration of forests after being damaged by natural disasters (Tedim et al, 2015).…”

“…У країнах Європи, Північної Америки та Австралії ведеться активна боротьба з лісовими пожежами. У багатьох країнах виявлено постійне збільшення площі та кількості пожеж протягом останніх десятиріч через глобальне потепління клімату (Zibtsev & Borsuk 2012, Tedim et al 2015, Yavorovsky 2015, World Fire Statistics 2017.…”
