Formation and properties of carbon black at high‐temperature pyrolysis of hydrocarbons and the role of ions

Abstract

The thermal decomposition of hydiocarbons during high-temperature pyrolysis is tiescribed, and the resulting formation of carbon black is explained by a radical merhanistn Structural properties of acetylene and plasma blacks determined by electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction are given. Measurements with a n electrical probe revealed a direct relation between the ion density in the plasma and the number of primary carbon black particles.Es wird der thermische Zerfall von Kohlenwasserstoffen bei der Hochternperaturpyroly se besrhrieben und die hierbei auftretende RuBbiltlung mit eineni Radikalmechanisiiius erklart. Dargestellt werden Eigenschafteri von Acetylen-und PlasriiaruBen auf der Grundlage elektronemnikroskopischer und rcintgenografischer Untersuchuiigen. Messungeii iiiittcls elektrischer Staupuriktsondcn zeigten, daB offenbar eine Identitat zwischen der Ionendichte irii Plasma und der Zahl priinarer RuBteilchen besteht.
