Four Prognosis-Associated lncRNAs Serve as Biomarkers in Ovarian Cancer

Abstract: Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play crucial roles in ovarian cancer (OC) development. However, prognosis-associated lncRNAs (PALs) for OC have not been completely elucidated. Our study aimed to identify the PAL signature of OC. A total of 663 differentially expressed lncRNAs were identified in the databases. According to the weighted gene coexpression analysis, the highly correlated genes were clustered into seven modules related to the clinical phenotype of OC. A total of 25 lncRNAs that were significantly re… Show more

“…LncRNAs have been shown to play significant regulatory roles in various disease processes, including OC [ 12 , 13 ]. At present, there are many studies using lncRNAs expression to predict the prognosis of cancer patients, such as a risk score system based on co-expression network analysis [ 14 ], four prognosis-associated lncRNAs as biomarkers in OC [ 15 ], and lncRNAs-associated ceRNA network [ 16 ]. However, the clinical significance of most FIRLs has not been intensely studied in OC patients.…”

“…For example, lncRNA ASMTL-AS1 has been reported to increase SOX17 expression via sponging miR-1228-3p [16]. ASMTL-AS1 was reported to be dysregulated in ovarian cancer [17]. And this allows the value for further study of ASMTL-AS1 in EOC, which has not been elucidated yet.…”

“…A new pyroptosis-related gene (PRGs) signature was found to influence ovarian cancer prognosis in a recent study ( 11 ). In addition, many lncRNA signatures have been developed for OC patients, such as a risk score system based on co-expression network analysis ( 12 ), prognosis-associated lncRNAs as biomarkers ( 13 ), and prognostic lncRNA biomarkers based on the ceRNA network ( 14 ). However, the above study only focused on the predictive value of 33 PRGs rather than covering upstream lncRNAs.…”
