Fracture resistance of CAD-CAM all-ceramic surveyed crowns with different occlusal rest seat designs

Abstract: PURPOSE To investigate the fracture resistance of monolithic CAD-CAM all-ceramic surveyed crowns with two different occlusal rest seat designs. MATERIALS AND METHODS Two maxillary first premolar were prepared for all-ceramic surveyed crowns with wide (2/3 rd of buccolingual width of an unprepared tooth) or narrow (1/3 rd of buccolingual width of an unprepared tooth) disto-occlusal rest seat (ORS) designs. Eighty mono… Show more

“…One of the most important qualities of clasps is their retention force, which will resist the removable prosthesis’ dislodging force during masticatory function and muscle movement. When assessing the fit of a clasp material to the retentive area, the clasp shape (length, width), flexibility, and undercut engagement should be considered [ 27 ]. The optimum performance of a clasp depends on the balance between these variables.…”

“…Another significant theoretical implication of the present study is the use of TAM in explaining the intended behavior of academicians to use e-learning. Many previous studies have used TAM to measure the intention of students to use e-learning methods such as social media, m-learning, and Internet learning [ 41 , 80 , 81 , 82 , 83 , 84 , 85 , 86 ]. However, studies lack the use of TAM to explore the behavioral intentions of academicians.…”

“…A recent study evaluated the fracture resistance of surveyed CAD‐CAM zirconia crowns fabricated out of two different brands (ZirCAD and Ceramill Zolid ZLHT) for maxillary first premolars. In the study, the authors compared a narrow disto‐occlusal rest housing 1/2 of the buccolingual width and a wide disto‐occlusal rest taking 2/3 of the buccolingual width, and the results concluded that narrow rest seat provided higher resistance for both types of zirconia brands (ZirCAD 3476 N; ZLHT 2666.70 N) than the crowns with wider occlusal rest seat (ZirCAD 2968 N; ZLHT 2083 N) 38 . Similarly, the results of the present study concurs with those results because the design with the widest rest seat (interproximal rest seat) had the lowest fracture resistance (2723 N) of all the rest seat design.…”
