“…ESI-MS of polyamide has been discussed in detail based on fragmentation mechanism [37,38] and was used to monitor the synthesis of polyamide [39]. As an effective method to study polyamides, ESI-MS experiments of polyamides before and after bulk electrolysis with different applied potential (shown in Table 2) are performed to identify the oxidation product of the polyamides.…”

“…investigated the positive ion electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry (ESI-MS/MS) of eight polyamides, 3 PyPyPyˇDp (1), ImPyPyˇDp(2), ImImPyˇDp (3), PyImImˇDp(4), ImImImˇDp(5), PyPyImˇDp (6), ImPyImˇDp (7) and PyImPyˇDp(8). In this work, the characteristics of and the fragmentation mechanisms of the negative ion electrospray ionization mass spectra for these polyamides were investigated.…”

“…3 We have previously investigated electrospray ionization (ESI) mass spectral characteristics of polyamides containing N-methylpyrrole (Py) and N-methylimidazole (Im). [5][6][7] In the study reported here, the characteristics of ESI-MS n mass spectra and the corresponding fragmentation mechanisms proposed for the seven conjugates are investigated; the results show that the fragmentation pathways are affected by the location and the structure of haloarenes in the conjugates, and the fragment ions of MS/MS spectra directly provide the structural information for the conjugates. ESI-MS/MS spectra were acquired using a LCQ Deca XP Plus ion trap mass spectrometer (ThermoFinnigan, San Jose, CA, USA); all the experiments were performed in the positive-ion mode.…”

“…Because of the introduction of a haloarene moiety into the polyamides, the fragmentation pathways of the conjugates are different from those of the polyamides. [5][6][7] The most striking feature of the MS/MS spectra of the conjugates is the appearance of some higher abundance fragment ions containing the haloarene group. to the N-terminus of the polyamide, and a b-alanine ethyl ether group (-NHCH 2 CH 2 COOCH 2 CH 3 ) is introduced on the C-terminus to increase the flexibility and solubility of the conjugates.…”
