Frequency limitations in generating multi-scroll chaotic attractors using CFOAs

Abstract: The current-feedback operational amplifier (CFOA) allows us to implement any kind of circuit useful in analogue signal processing applications. However, it has limited performance in implementing nonlinear circuits. That way, this investigation highlights the experimental results of implementing a multi-scroll chaotic oscillator by using the commercially available CFOA AD844. The chaotic oscillator is based on saturated nonlinear function (SNLF) series, and we show and discuss its frequency limitations to gene… Show more

“…It can be seen from these waveforms that it can transmit the signal from 1 Hz to 500 kHz without distortion. This is due to the frequency limitations of the amplifiers, as already shown in [32]. When the signal frequency reaches 500 kHz to 1 MHz, the signal distortion is quite evident, as shown in Figures 23, 24, 25, and 26.…”

“…In recent years, Mahmoud et al introduced some chaotic and hyperchaotic systems with complex variables, analyzed their chaotic behavior, and proposed several types of synchronization methods [20][21][22][23][24][25]. Usually, increasingly novel chaotic systems are generated from low-order chaotic systems to hyperchaotic systems [26][27][28] and from two-wing systems to four-wing or multiloop systems [29][30][31][32]. A significant application of chaotic systems is to form chaotic secure communication circuit [33].…”

“…Deep inspection of published papers dealing with continuous-time chaotic oscillator design reveals that authors usually care little about the parasitic properties of used active elements and how these factors in°u-ence expected strange attractor. Of course, there are a few exceptions like 75 where authors nicely explain how frequency limitations of AD844 a®ect construction and veri¯cation of the multi-scroll chaotic oscillator. Anyhow, theoretically such qualitative analysis can solve this problem: Is desired chaotic pattern structurally stable such that the generated waveforms have the potential for the practical applications?…”

“…Particularly on the generation of continuous time n-scroll attractors by using universal active devices [2,3], a piece-wise linear (PWL) approach is often used to model the nonlinear part of the third order chaotic system [4,5,6,7,8]. Despite of that PWL models are relatively easy to build and numerical simulations can be realized, in practice, the predicted performance of the chaotic system differs substantially from reality.…”
