Frist Detection of The blaOXA-23 Genes in Clinical Isolates of Acinetobacterbaumanniiin Babylon Hospitals-Iraq

Abstract: Acinetobacter spp. have risen as important pathogens in medicinal services related contaminations. Carbapenems are vital antimicrobial agents for treating diseases due to multidrug resistant Acinetobacter spp. Resistance to these drugs in the genus, may beconferred by different mechanisms particularly production of class D carbapenemases. OXA-23-like family has been brought up as one of the dominating carbapenemases among Acinetobacter. The present study aimed to investigate the occurrence of OXA-23-like carba… Show more

“…The results indicated that 5% of isolates were categorized as MDR, while the remaining 95% were classified as XDR. These findings contradict the reports of [13,22,23,30] which reported higher MDR rates and relatively lower XDR rate.…”

“…Notably, all isolates were completely resistant to ampicillin, while a significant proportion (96.6%) exhibited resistance to pipracillin. These resistance patterns are consistent with previous studies [21][22][23]reporting similar findings for ampicillin. However, there were discrepancies in the resistance rates for pipracillin compared to studies conducted by [21,[24][25][26].…”

“…It is of interest that SIM-1 was produced by one strain of MDR K. pneumoniae intermediately susceptible to aztreonam and colistin. Similar results were reported for the SIM-1 gene in A. baumannii 10 in Iraq 22 and in Egypt, 20 in P. aeruginosa and recently in Egypt 23 and K. pneumoniae with ST23 strain carrying SIM-1 in China. 24 The GIM-1 and SIM-1 genes were transferred to Sudan, these can be broadly categorized into issues of emergence, spread, and clonal expansion with diversity, which include natural genetic diversification caused by mutation, horizontal gene transfer among other species, an increase in international travel and patient transfer between countries raising the possibility for further dissemination of strains carrying resistant genes.…”

“…Top exhibit resistance most antimicrobials that counseled by CLSI eight and gave the impression to be intensive antibiotic resistance (XDR) this might make a severe problem for gold choice of therapy (Mikkili et al, 2015) this result was more identi ied with the report of emergence XDR during A . baumannii isolates from patients in ICUs of Samsung medical center in national capital, South Korea (Flonta et al, 2011) Hence, The incidence of isolates contain blaIMP in Babylon hospitals which explained our many factors contributed in spread resistance by transfer plasmid or integron additional to present IS, resistant of many isolates might produce identical restriction pattern recommend that result in same line with previous study (Chang et al, 2013) (Al-Harmoosh et al, 2016The presence of class one integrons and IS elements are always con-nected to the epidemic potential of A. baumannii our result come closed with previous study (Turton et al, 2005) (Bratu et al, 2008).…”
