To accomplish this the author favorably compares the PTI-2 item types with those found in a variety of other tests of cognitive ability (e.g., the Picture Vocabulary Test for Preschool Children [Van Alstyne, 1929], Full-Range Vocabulary Test [Ammons & Ammons, 1949], Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale [Terman & Merrill, 1937], the two Wechsler children's scales [Wechsler, 1989[Wechsler, , 1991, Columbia Mental Maturity Scale [Burgemeister, Blum, & Lorge, 1955], Comprehensive Test of Nonverbal Intelligence-Third Edition [Hammill, Pearson, & Wiederholt, 1997], and the Developmental Test of Visual Perception-Second Edition [Hammill, Pearson, & Voress, 1993] ). The use of discrimination power and item difficulty to make final selection of items comprised the second method of ensuring the content validity of the PTI-2.…”
