Full-Rate Full-Diversity Finite Feedback Space-Time Schemes with Minimum Feedback and Transmission Duration

Abstract: In this paper a universal necessary condition for any FFS to achieve full-diversity is given, using which the notion of FeedbackTransmission duration optimal (FT-Optimal) FFSs -schemes that use minimum amount of feedback N given the transmission duration T , and minimum transmission duration given the amount of feedback to achieve full-diversity -is introduced. When there is no feedback, i.e., when N = 1, an FT-optimal scheme consists of a single STBC with T = Nt, and the universal necessary condition reduces … Show more

“…Let the optimal set of TAs for a given channel realization be as in (2). Then the PEP between any two distinct TVs indexed by in the codebook is given by 1 The Proposition 1 in our paper is a generalization of Theorem 2 in [20] which is used along with Proposition 2 to arrive at our main result. Note that Proposition 2 constitutes the main result of our paper.…”

“…Proposition 1: The SM system employing EDAS achieves a diversity order of . Proof: We adopt the steps in the proof of Theorem 2 in [20], showing that the rate of decay for the pairwise error probability (PEP) between any two TVs is at least 1 . Let the TVs in each codebook be indexed as .…”

“…Thus, a limited feedback (LF) approach is adopted, where a codeword is selected from a pre-determined codebook that maximizes a certain metric of interest. Some of the codebooks conceived for LF schemes include the popular Grassmannian codebook [10], unitary TPC-aided orthogonal STBCs [11], combined-beamforming and STBC-aided quantized feedback [12], algebraic rotation and threaded space-time architecture assisted codebooks [13] etc.…”
