“…This composite was recently successfully synthesized and exhibited excellent performance when applied in powder form to photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue in aqueous media, as reported in our previous work [7]. In another work [8], the same composite applied to cotton fabric exhibited superior fire-retardant behavior decreasing flame propagation due to its mineral nature when combined with phosphorus and nitrogen compounds. The present work shows that our composite also exhibited antimicrobial activity in addition to the photocatalytic and fire-retardant properties.…”

“…A woven fabric (cotton 100%) was functionalized with a kaolinitetitania nanohybrid composite (denoted as KT) by solvothermal synthesis [8]. The KT composite consists of kaolinite microparticles containing TiO 2 nanocrystals adhered to its surface [7].…”

“…The reason might be attributed to the boric acid/borax contained in C1, C4, and C7, which had better flame-retardant capabilities and could form a glass-like coating film covered on the surface of the coatings to block the entrance of oxygen and heat at higher temperatures [52][53][54]. Moreover, some researchers have proven that UV absorbents, including nano-SiO 2 , nano-TiO 2 , and UV1130, could effectively reduce the pyrolysis of coatings [55][56][57]. Among them, C4 had the best stability, because the network-like nano-TiO 2 covering the surface of the carbon layer enhanced the thermal stability of the coating.…”

“…This coated layer does not propagate flame when it comes to the effect of fire and provides self-extinguishing characteristics immediately after the heat source is removed. The functionalization of the fabric reduces the thermal degradation of the cellulosic fibre by 41% [64]. Insignificant resistance against the washing of cellulosic fabric is observed whereas mechanical strength of the fabric is almost retained.…”
