Future Industrial Systems: Best Practices of the Intelligent Manufacturing and Services Systems (IMS2) French Research Group

Abstract: Development of future industry has become an active research area in the recent years. A structured national workgroup, called IMS², has emerged in France over the last decade. The aim of this paper is, regarding four highlighted general research topics (namely agility, new technologies, sustainability and industrial dissemination), to synthetize the general research works on intelligent manufacturing and to demonstrate the principal contributions developed within the framework of this national workgroup. Afte… Show more

“…The proposed framework is a brainstorming attempt to orient the EPDM research community to get fully involved towards activating this paper's future vision of more interactive and intelligent next-generation strategic EPDM solutions as it is the case within other disciplines such as (intelligent sustainable) manufacturing and Industry 4.0 [238,239], (green) supply chain management [240,241], and more significantly in (participative and intelligent) healthcare and medical decision support [242,243]. Thus, all involved energy planning stakeholders' are expected to express their feedbacks, agreements/disagreements, and more importantly their concerns for enhanced, sustainability-oriented strategic EPDM.…”

“…In order to establish the context in which the researches in CPPS field are developed, the idea here was to concentrate on the international research roadmaps in order to exhibit the main trends in the field. A study of these roadmaps in literature [39], classifies these international roadmaps towards the main axes they put forward. Several conclusions can be drawn from this comparative study.…”

“…Nevertheless, this means to define a flexible and agile control system of the whole center, able to adapt to the various disturbances that could affect the system. Such control architecture have been extensively studied in the field of manufacturing [30], and their extension toward service companies still needs to be proved.…”
