“…In contrast with the acute episode observed in the present case, the onset of myopathy in the 2 previous patients appeared after some weeks of treatment with gabapentin. However, our patient was older and received a daily dose of gabapentin 4.5-fold higher in comparison with dose regimens reported by Lipson et al 16 In all cases, concomitant medications (atorvastatin, 17 sertraline, 18 and haloperidol and lansoprazole in our patient) might be regarded as having contributed to the onset of myopathy, while other possible causes (trauma, compartmental syndrome, infections, thyroid diseases, intense physical activity) were ruled out. Electromyographic recordings, as well as muscle and nerve histopathologic examinations, were not reported for the previously described patients.…”

“…To our knowledge, there are only five cases of gabapentin‐associated rhabdomyolysis in the literature (Table ). Lipson et al reported two cases of myopathy in patients receiving daily hemodialysis.…”

“…To our knowledge, there are only five cases of gabapentin‐associated rhabdomyolysis in the literature (Table ). Lipson et al reported two cases of myopathy in patients receiving daily hemodialysis. These patients were taking low gabapentin doses (100 mg/day) and displayed lower CPK level elevation and a longer symptoms onset time (4 weeks and 6 weeks, respectively) than other cases.…”

“…In the literature, to the best of our knowledge, there are two case reports with respect to GBP use and myopathy (4,5 (11,12). In literature, published cases of GBP related adverse events including rhabdomyolysis occurred mostly in the setting of either acute or chronic renal dysfunction (4,5,(13)(14)(15) (5,16,17).…”
