GAFOR: Genetic Algorithm Based Fuzzy Optimized Re-Clustering in Wireless Sensor Networks

Abstract: In recent years, the deployment of wireless sensor networks has become an imperative requisite for revolutionary areas such as environment monitoring and smart cities. The en-route filtering schemes primarily focus on energy saving by filtering false report injection attacks while network lifetime is usually ignored. These schemes also suffer from fixed path routing and fixed response to these attacks. Furthermore, the hot-spot is considered as one of the most crucial challenges in extending network lifetime. … Show more

“…Various streamlined methods have been proposed in an attempt to discover the most energy-efficient variation of CH [30,31]. As a result, there is a need for a metaheuristic approach that can satisfy critical parameters in the optimization phase [32,33].…”

“…In sensor networks, information gathered from various sensors is collaboratively fused to enhance the overall system performance [1]. Sensor fusion techniques have found extensive applications in fields such as autonomous mobile systems [2], remote sensing [3], wireless sensor networks [4], and target tracking [5], benefiting from the rapid development of sensor technology. Spatial registration is a critical aspect of data fusion in multi-sensor systems.…”

“…However, it is almost impossible to make the best decision using manual rule generation in traditional protocols based on expertise and practice, and this is especially unsuitable for different applications. Thus, several optimization algorithms, such as the genetic algorithm [ 22 ], shuffled frog algorithm [ 23 ], particle swarm optimization [ 13 ], and artificial bee colony [ 14 ], have been adopted to tune the rule base. After the CH is selected and the CMs have joined the clusters, the clusters are formed, followed by the data transmission process, which is usually completed by a routing algorithm or protocol [ 17 ].…”
