Gas Lift System

Abstract: Generally, a gas lift is a flexible, and a reliable artificial lift system with the ability to cover a wide range of production rates. Gas lift systems are a closed system empowered by high-pressured gas. The entire process is used to reduce the wellbore fluid pressure gradient by supplementing gas through an external source to withdraw more liquid from the reservoir under higher drawdown. Many parameters affect a gas lift system design, such as changes in the wellhead and bottomhole pressures (BHPs), produced… Show more

“…The continuous injection is like natural elevation, it can be treated as an extension of the natural flow process, according to the displacement of the fluid towards the surface, the pressure of the fluid column reduces, expanding the gas in the fluid from the injection point to the surface. This way, the increase of the gas-liquid ratio will reduce its density, reducing the pressure losses along the column (ELLDAKLI, 2017).…”

“…For Elldakli (2017), the intermittent lift gas injection is based on the periodic displacement of liquids, called fluid strokes, from the pipeline by injection of high-pressure gas into the wellbore. In addition, a valve that has a pre-defined time performs the control, following injection and rest cycles.…”

“…Producing at lower rates is not economical. With regard to the static pressure of the reservoir, the gas-lift method is the most appropriate for well X [6,18]. Continuous gaslift is an artificial-lift method that consists of injecting gas through the producing well to lower gravity pressure losses in order to reduce the pressure at the bottom of the well [19].…”

“…In deep water gas-lift oil well processes [25], the downhole pressure is an important variable to ensure safety and to provide useful information for management and oil recovery of the oil field [17]. It can be used by anti-slugging control systems or to optimize the costs of the oil production.…”
