Gastric-Type Adenocarcinoma of the Uterine Cervix Associated with Poor Response to Definitive Radiotherapy

Abstract: We aimed to evaluate the response to definitive radiotherapy (RT) for cervical cancer based on histological subtypes and investigate prognostic factors in adenocarcinoma (AC). Of the 396 patients treated with definitive RT between January, 2010 and July, 2020, 327 patients met the inclusion criteria, including 275 with squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and 52 with AC restaged based on the 2018 International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics staging system. “…[12] In the treatment of chemotherapy, compared to non-gastric-type endocervical AC, the 3-year OS rate and the PFS rate both lower (50.0% vs 78.4%, P = .18, 44.4% vs 66.7%, P < .05, respectively). [13]…”

“…Compared with HPV‐associated ECA, GEA has higher prevalence of destructive invasion, extrauterine spread, and advanced stage at presentation [ 1 , 5 ]. GEA is also associated with poor response to chemoradiation treatment [ 6 , 7 ] and significantly worse disease‐free and overall survival [ 1 , 5 , 8 , 9 ].…”
