“…The presented chromatographic method was successfully applied in the simultaneous determination of 1-5 in the extracts MBCM and MLCM (Table 5). Ellagic acid (3) is the compound present in major concentrations in both extracts and the bioavonoids agathisavone (4) and amentoavone (5) were detected only on leaves which is in accordance with the literature, since 4 and 5 were isolated only from the leaves of C. macrophyllum, 7,11 whereas ellagic acid was isolated from both leaves and stem bark 3,7 and, this is the rst report of gallic acid and methyl gallate in the stem bark of this species. In the previous work 11 from stem bark from a specimen collected in different habitat was isolated bergenin as the main compound of this species.…”

“…Gastroprotective activity of hydroalcoholic leaf extract of Cenostigma macrophyllum against indomethacin-, cold stress-, ischemia-and ethanol-induced gastric damage has been evaluated in rats and mice (Viana et al, 2013). The hydroalcoholic leaf extract of C. macrophyllum was used at two different doses (100 and 200 mg/kg).…”

“…The gastric ulcer is characterized by the reduction in blood flow, infiltration of neutrophils, induction of oxidative stress and secretion of inflammatory cytokines [2,3]. Various factors including helicobacter pyloriinfection, alcohol consumption, smoking, excessive use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), psychological and physiological stress contribute to gastric ulcer [4].…”
