Gatekeeper of Influence: The Mexican State and Agro-industry in the Nafta Negotiations

Abstract: ln Mexico, state actors controlled the channcls for business-governrnent relations during the NAFTA negotiations. Howevcr, state actors depended on the private sector for infonnation, politicai support and adaptation to free trade.
