Gaussian Message Passing for Overloaded Massive MIMO-NOMA

Abstract: This paper considers a low-complexity Gaussian Message Passing (GMP) scheme for a coded massive Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) systems with Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (massive MIMO-NOMA), in which a base station with N s antennas serves N u sources simultaneously in the same frequency. Both N u and N s are large numbers, and we consider the overloaded cases with N u > N s . The GMP for MIMO-NOMA is a message passing algorithm operating on a fully-connected loopy factor graph, which is well understoo… Show more

“…The ones described in [18] and [19] are iterative and belong to the class of Bayesian inference algorithms. There are also solutions based on approximate message passing (AMP) [20], as [23] and [24], while the works in [25] and [26] developed a solution based on AMP and expectation minimization (EM) [27].…”

“…The authors of [27] developed a Monte Carlo Markov Chain based MUD for large-scale networks. A factor graph based linear MMSE (LMMSE) detector exhibiting rapid convergence was proposed in by Liu et al [28] for multiple-input multipleoutput (MIMO)-NOMA systems. Then, by exploiting the 'convexified' variational free energy, the authors of [29] proposed a guaranteed-convergence-MPA receiver for MIMO-NOMA systems.…”

“…The superiority of MIMO-NOMA over MIMO-OMA in terms of both sum channel capacity and ergodic sum capacity is proved analytically in [13]. A lowcomplexity Gaussian message passing (GMP) scheme for a coded massive MIMO systems with non-orthogonal multiple access (massive MIMO-NOMA) is proposed in [14,15] to make convergence speed faster. In [16], a practical coded MIMO-NOMA system with capacity-approaching performance as well as low implementation complexity is proposed, which can achieve asymptotic performances within 0.2 dB from the theoretical capacity.…”
