Gel Permeation Chromatography Purification and Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry Detection of Multi-Pesticide Residues in Traditional Chinese Medicine

Abstract: The measurement of 23 organochlorine, organophosphorus, and pyrethroid pesticides in typical traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), flos lonicerae, was made using gel permeation chromatography (GPC) purification and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) detection. The pesticides were extracted with ultrasonic device and 5.0 mL mixture of ethyl acetate and cyclohexane (1:1, v/v). Coextractants from sample matrices which may have interfere to the qualitative and quantitative analysis, such as pigments, were … Show more

“…[8,15] Other studies evaluate the nociceptive behavior of zebrafish through the novel tank test in an aquarium, using body curvature index as a parameter, as nociception-inducing substances cause abdominal constriction, which is a new specific phenotype related to nociceptive behavior in zebrafish. [21] The need for licensed software to analyze videos to identify this behavior is the limiting factor for the use of this method, but it undoubtedly brings parameters that qualify the study of nociception behavior in zebrafish. However, although the study of locomotor activity to evaluate nociception in zebrafish is a simple parameter, studies reveal that the application of harmful agents such as formalin and capsaicin to the animals' tail causes a drastic reduction in locomotion and pre-treatment with powerful opioid analgesic such as morphine prevents this behavior, making the animals swim freely on the plate.…”

“…However, it should not be forgotten that most herbal plants grow in natural habitats; therefore, their quality should be always controlled. Medicinal plants monitoring in China and India is much more common than in Poland (Qian et al 2010 ; Rao et al 2011 ; Zuhang and Gong 2012 ).…”
