“…Earlier experiments [1,2] in channels and in the unconfined air demonstrated that blast waves gener ated by the nonideal detonation of mixtures based on ammonium perchlorate, hydrocarbon fuel, alumi num, and RDX exhibit advantageous performance characteristics. The main feature of the observed chemical conversion is that, in the front of the detona tion wave, only apart of the stored chemical energy is released, mainly due to the decomposition of the explosive sensitizer, RDX, with most of the energy being released by the subsequent reactions, spread in time and space.…”
