The estimates of evolutionary divergence times of 2n = 58 and 60, according to DNA-DNA hybridization are 02±004 million years ago (Catzeflis et a!., 1988), while allozymic evidence suggests time estimates of 250,000, for the entire complex, and 70,000 years ago, for the recent speciation event generating, 2n = 60 (Nevo and Cleve, 1978).
