“…PCA based on genotypic relationship were frequently used in several studies to give a valuable insight to better understanding of population structure and genetic relations between individuals (Sabeti et al, 2007). We observed dense structure in domestic goat population in comparison to wild individuals; it might be due to high degree of selection pressure for economic traits in domestic goats (Taheri et al, 2022). It is necessary to point out that small sample size in the current may not reveal the actual diversity.…”

“…In this study, samples were collected from unrelated individuals, which were including 20 Iranian domestic goats ( C. hircus) and 18 Iranian wild goats ( C. aegagrus ). These samples were collected from north western of Iran, as it was described by Taheri et al (2022). Samples were collected randomly and from distal part of ear and 25 mg of tissue was subjected to DNA extraction by the Macherey Nagel NucleoSpin 96 Tissue kit, following manufacturer's instruction (Alberto et al, 2018).…”

“…Previous studies have employed models to discover why small and isolated populations have an increased risk of extinction due to the interplay between genetics and demography 9 . Assessing the allelic richness of species and populations is widely employed to quantify genetic diversity, thereby evaluating fitness and adaptability in response to environmental changes 10 12 .…”
