Thus, the diversity of resistance genes to different races of P. xanthii opens the possibility of combining them in single melon genotypes in order to achieve resistance to multiple races.…”

Powdery mildew resistance gene (Pm-AN) located in a segregation distortion region of melon LGV

“…If powdery mildew races which Pm-AN and Pm-W are resistant to are different, Pm-AN and Pm-W are different gene though they may be co-located. So far two QTLs were mapped on LGV: PmV.1 of PI 124112 (Perchepied et al 2005) and one major QTL Pm-R of TGR-1551 (Yuste-Lisbona et al 2010). The two QTLs PmV.1and Pm-R, and the genes Pm-W (Dogimont et al 2007) and Pm-AN were all associated with resistance to powdery mildew and located on LGV, but they are from different melon: PI124112, TGR-1551, WMR29 and Ano2.…”
