Genome-Wide Analysis of the PIN Auxin Efflux Carrier Gene Family in Coffee

Abstract: Coffee is one of the most popular beverages around the world, which is mainly produced from the allopolyploid Coffea arabica. The genomes of C. arabica and its two ancestors C. canephora and C. eugenioides have been released due to the development of next generation sequencing. However, few studies on C. arabica are related to the PIN-FORMED (PIN) auxin efflux transporter despite its importance in auxin-mediated plant growth and development. In the present study, we conducted a genome-wide analysis of the PIN … Show more

“…This diversification is also reflected by the important structural variations found within the Aux/IAA proteins. This partially accounts for the Aux/-IAA conservation in these species during the evolutionary process ( [25,39,64,65]. Twelve of the 25 FtAux/IAA loci formed six sister pairs in the NJ reconstructions, four of which had strong bootstrap support, indicating that Aux/-IAA genes in Tartary buckwheat may play nonredundant roles during plant development.…”

“…In our results, both the IAA and tZR contents in corms increased significantly during the second leaf sprouting period. Moreover, the genes encoding the family of auxin efflux carriers, such as PINs , tent to be highly expressed during the same period, which would facilitate efficient and directional auxin export out of the cell and promote the polar auxin transport stream, precluding upward movement into the axillary buds ( Forestan and Varotto, 2012 ; Huang et al., 2020 ). This may allow cytokinins in corms to directly promote bud outgrowth.…”

“…Los genomas de C. arabica y sus dos ancestros diploides estrechamente relacionados (Coffea canephora y Coffea eugenioides) se han liberado debido al desarrollo de la secuenciación de próxima generación (Huang et al, 2020). Este fenómeno de pérdida de genes está vinculado con un sesgo de fraccionamiento (Thomas et al, 2010).…”
