Geodynamics

Abstract: The purpose of the research was to verify the extraordinary big theoretical penetration depth of new developed georadar in the real conditions of karsts areas. The new kind of the Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) – Roteg – was developed in 2013 (RTG-Tengler 2013). Its technical parameters (pulse peak on the transmitting antenna 20 kV or more, and the sensitivity of the receiving antenna at least 2 uV, i.e. the real signal detection level around 20 uV) express that the real signal detection sensitivity is 9 order… Show more

“…Similarly, other natural processes which can produce glasses, like underground fires, frictional melting on fault-or rockslide planes or lightning [15], are irrelevant due to regional geology, and/or unable to explain melting of large pebbles or their nearly whole surfaces. The geophysical results are consistent with impact origin of the craters, indicating among others compact bodies below their bottoms [10,11,16].…”

“…Here we present only results of gamma-ray spectrometry as a first order indicator of quantitative geochemistry. For the results of groundpenetrating radar, automatic resistivity system, and radon measurements, see [16]. A binocular stereomicroscope was used for observation and photographing surfaces of original samples, as well as of those cut or partially broken.…”

“…In this paper, the bulk material balance is discussed, and results of investigation of the meteoritic material found are presented. Another recent paper [16] presents geophysical results which are also consistent with the impact origin of the craters.…”

“…The collisions lead to complicated relations of melting and deformation, and make the heating of pebble interior possible (heating by plastic deformation was also documented for experimental projectiles [70]). Ejecting is limited and downward transport of fine particles and fragments is significant (as supposed for highly porous targets, like some asteroids [71]), probably leading to formation of the compact body below the crater floor indicated geophysically [16].…”
