“…A cross-sectional study of 957 participants from the Gulf Long-Term Follow-up Study showed that Mn was positively associated with the risk of hypertension ( 9 ), while a negatively association of urinary Mn with blood pressure was found in another study ( 8 ). Another cross-sectional study included 2,597 Chinese adults with hypertension showed that blood Mn levels were associated with age, region and season, but not with SBP (β = −0.01, P > 0.05) and DBP (β = 0.00, P > 0.05) ( 33 ). In the present study, no significant differences in whole blood Mn levels between hypertensive and non-hypertensive subjects were found, however, a positive trend and association of blood Mn with the risk of hypertensive, levels of SBP and DBP were observed in single-metal model (both P trend < 0.05), and this trend is maintained in levels of SBP and DBP after FDR-adjustments (both P FDR < 0.10).…”
