Stunting is a public health problem that receives special attention because it is related to human resources in the future. Many studies state that stunting is related to nutritional problems in toddlers, only a few studies show that environmental factors are an indirect cause of stunting in toddlers. The purpose of this systematic study was to describe the relationship between environmental factors and the incidence of stunting in toddlers. This literature study used a scoping review method by searching through several search engines such as Scopus and nature and science direct databases supported by Diponegoro University. The articles selected for review are articles that contain the results of observational studies (cross-sectional, cohort and case control) that analyze environmental factors with the incidence of stunting in toddlers. From 7 articles, only 1 study stated that environmental factors did not affect the incidence of stunting, 6 other articles stated that environmental factors were an indirect cause of stunting in toddlers. Environmental factors related to stunting are the source of drinking water, the practice of haphazard defecation, the presence of animal waste in the living environment, environmental enteric dysfunction, the availability of proper toilet, the practice of washing hands with soap when feeding children, exposure to cigarette smoke, exposure to PM 2.5, household waste and clean and healthy living behavior.

One of the endemic diseases that can be found in tropical areas is DHF or Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF). Dengue fever can be transmitted through Aedes aegypti mosquitoes that have been infected with the dengue virus. It is estimated that the level of dependence on DHF is always related to the infected area around it. DHF can spread to other people through mosquito bites. Sukoharjo Regency in 2018 recorded 35 cases of DHF sufferers and zero patients died. Increased up to 90% in 2019, there were 317 cases of dengue fever and 10 patients died. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to determine the autocorrelation of the spread of DHF in Sukoharjo Regency in 2019. This study used data on the number of DHF sufferers per subdistrict in Sukoharjo Regency in 2019. The research method used the calculation of the Moran Index. Calculation of Moran’s Index produced a value I = -0.181. Moran’s index value is in the range - 1≤I< 0 so that it indicates a negative autocorrelation. The correlation is classified to be a weak relationship. Negative spatial autocorrelation values indicate locations that are close to each other have values that are not close together. Subdistricts with a high number of sufferers tended to be irregular.

Stunting is a fundamental problem in Indonesia's human development. The risk factors for stunting are very complex, including inadequate environmental sanitation. This study aims to analyze and map the influence of spatially correlated sanitation risk on the incidence of stunting toddlers in Malang Regency, Indonesia. Data collection was carried out by interviewing respondents using questionnaires, counting stunting toddlers, and observing environmental sanitation objects. Determination of respondents was done purposively with the following stages. First, at the village level, 75 sites were selected based on the following criteria: population density; poverty level; the presence of streams, drainage or irrigation canals; and flood vulnerability. Furthermore, in each village, 40 respondents were selected based on the following criteria: women aged between 18 to 65 years, came from poor families and had a child (or children). When the number of respondents who were willing to participate is less than 40 people in each village, they were replaced by other respondents based on recommendations from village officials. A total of 3000 respondents have participated in this study. The selected respondents include wives, dependent married women or widows. The spatial analysis approach was carried out using the Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) method. Based on the results of the analysis of the spatial effect of the GWR model, the Sanitation Risk Factors that significantly affected the incidence of stunting in Malang Regency were; Environmental Drainage (greywater), Solid Waste, and Domestic Wastewater (black water). Clean and Healthy Lifestyles and Water Sources have less effect on sanitation risk. This study recommends government and public interventions to improve environmental sanitation including integrated waste management, improvement of drainage infrastructure, construction of standardized toilets, and carrying out health promotion efforts with education to increase public awareness.
