Abstract.-There is little knowledge available on the spatial behaviour of urban tourists, and yet tourists generate an enormous quantity of data (Big Data) when they visit cities. These data sources can be used to track their presence through their activities. The aim of this paper is to analyse the digital footprint of urban tourists through Big Data. Unlike other papers that use a single data source, this article examines three sources of data to reflect different tourism activities in cities: Panoramio (sightseeing), Foursquare (consumption), and Twitter (being connected). Tourist density in the three data sources is compared via maps, correlation analysis (OLS) and spatial self-correlation analysis (Global Moran's I statistic and LISA). Finally the data are integrated using cluster analysis and combining the spatial clusters identified in the LISA analysis in the different data sources. The results show that the data from the three activities are partly spatially redundant and partly complementary, and allow the characterisation of multifunction tourist spaces (with several activities) and spaces specialising in one or various activities (for example, sightseeing and consumption). The case study analysed (Madrid) reveals a significant presence of tourists in the city centre, and increasing specialisation from the centre outwards towards the periphery. The main conclusion of the paper is that it is not sufficient to use one data source to analyse the presence of tourists in cities; several must be used in a complementary manner.

In this article the value of Twitter data analysis for a strategic foresight exercise is discussed. The article offers an overview of Twitter's basic functionalities, previous Twitter research and related studies on using Twitter in foresight projects to date. Based on this knowledge the case of the EU research project BForesight and Modelling for European Health Policy and RegulationsB(FRESHER) is used to conduct a Twitter data analysis in three steps: an analysis of weblinks to get insights into the content spread via Twitter, a social network analysis to define central actors in a Twitter debate, and a hashtag-analysis to find out which topics are discussed a n d t o su p po r t t h e i de n t i f i c at i o n o f d r i v e r s o f noncommunicable diseases. The article shows the benefit a Twitter data analysis provides for the FRESHER project and reveals implications for future research in this field.

Kulcsszavak:online közösségi hálózatok, távolságfüggés, településekMilyen térbeli szerkezettel rendelkeznek az online közösségek? Az új empirikus eredmények arra utalnak, hogy a fizikai közelségnek meghatározó szerepe van a virtuális társadalmi kapcsolatok formálásában és fenntartásában, azaz nem teljesül a "távolság halálaként" korábban megfogalmazott tézis. Ugyanakkor az online közösségi hálózatok távolságtól való függésének jellegzetességei nem ismertek. Ezek feltárása érdekében a 2000-es évek vezető hazai közös-ségi portálját, a teljes iWiW-hálózatot elemezzük földrajzi szempontból. Eredményeink szerint a tá-volságtól való függés gyengébb az online közösségi hálózatban, mint a korábbi, a telefonon történő kommunikációs hálózatokban. Elemzésünkben az iWiW-felhasználók településeit tekintjük a hálózat pontjainak, és kétféle súlyt vezetünk be a közöttük lévő élek jellemzésére. A települések közötti kapcsolatokkal arányos élsúlyok esetén a hálózatban gyenge a távolságtól való függés, de a területileg jól körülha-tárolható modulszerkezet a tervezési-statisztikai ré-giókat követi. A települések közötti kapcsolatok vár-ható értékéhez viszonyított élsúlyok, a modulszerkezet -néhány kivételtől eltekintve -a megyehatárok mentén alakul ki.
