The aim of the article was to identify the current status and problems of Ukraine’s regional associations, and discuss them in the context of supranational challenges and the COVID-19 pandemic. Observation, the comparative method and the neo-institutional approach were the main methodological tools involved. The investigation found that Ukraine intends to establish various coalitions, blocs and alliances to develop the foreign policy vector. Countries that thrive to be regional actors, as well as NATO and EU Member States, engage in this type of cooperation. A gradual intensification of the growth of the country’s regional leadership was revealed through a comparative study of Ukraine’s cooperation with different countries and their partnerships. The authors of the research supported the point of view of adherents to the concept that Ukraine is interested in the political discourse of regional leadership.It is concluded that expanding the country’s political and economic opportunities is an appropriate context for reforming the Western vectors of Ukraine’s foreign policy. It demonstrated the great potential of regional partnerships, of which Ukraine is a member, to improve democracy.

The role of China in the world and in Latin America is rapidly changing. From being a fast-developing nation, scouring the world for raw materials and markets for its own industrialization, it has set out to be a global leader, also on climate change mitigation. This has become a geopolitical issue, particularly since it involves energy and land use change. China is seeking to secure its interests through building multilateral coalitions and striking bilateral agreements that allow the combination of pursuing their own geopolitical interests and climate mitigation goals and tying a broad set of countries into China's orbit. This paper discusses how this process shapes Latin America's climate agenda. China's agenda diverges on many issues from those pursued by Latin American countries and actors. At the same time, Chinese strategies meet resistance, due both to Latin America fragmentation and other actors' geopolitical interests, mainly those of the EU and the USA. I argue that China is pursuing a vision of a green transformation placing "development" in focus in line with a "thin" understanding of sustainability. What is emerging is a "transmuted" multilateralism wherein new institutions coexist with existing ones that are given new content.

Las reconfiguraciones geopolíticas impulsadas por Estados Unidos, China y Rusia en el siglo XXI plantean retos para la región de América Latina. China y Rusia han desplegado estrategias de poder inteligente en su política exterior hacia la región para disputar la influencia de Estados Unidos. Moscú ha buscado establecer alianzas estratégicas con varios países latinoamericanos, especialmente con aquellos que han sido históricamente críticos de los Estados Unidos, por su parte, Beijing ha desplegado un poder inteligente en su política exterior hacia América Latina al enfocarse en la cooperación económica y el fortalecimiento de los lazos políticos y culturales. América Latina en el contexto de la competencia entre las grandes potencias, expresada en el conflicto comercial entre Estados Unidos y China y en las tensiones causadas por la guerra en Ucrania entre Rusia y la alianza noratlántica de Occidente, ha adquirido mayor relevancia geopolítica y geoestratégica por lo que la búsqueda de la unidad y la integración se convierte en una prioridad para los gobiernos de la región en el sistema de relaciones globales.
