Geração sonoquímica de oxidantes em solução aquosa saturada de tetracloreto de carbono

Abstract: Recebido em 11/6/01; aceito em 8/11/01 SONOCHEMICAL PRODUCTION OF OXIDIZING SPECIES IN WATER SOLUTION SATURATED WITH CARBON TETRACHLORIDE. In this work the CCl 4 degradation in aqueous solution by sonication with 40 kHz commercial ultrasonic bath was investigated. Sonochemical degradation of CCl 4 occur by the cleavage of C-Cl bond into the cavitation bubbles. Oxidation reactions and the pH decreasing in the bulk solution during sonication were attributed to chlorine radicals produced by CCl 4 sonolysis, leadi… Show more

“…Therefore, the sonication of an aqueous solution of chloroalkanes is a potential source of Cl − , Cl 2 and HClO. 14,15 The tendency for one or other species to prevail depends on the physical and chemical properties of the precursor, specially the hydrophobicity, vapour pressure, molar mass and concentration. 2,16 …”

“…Ultrasound energy using ultrasonic cleaning baths has been employed in analytical chemistry for bottle cleaning and in several different applications [10], such as extraction [11][12][13], reagent generation [14][15][16][17][18][19] and to improve mass transport in solution and reaction rates [17,20,21]. Ultrasound energy has also been used in conjunction with the reduction of the internal pressure of reaction vessels to obtain salts with a high degree of purity [22,23].…”
