Show more

“…The results show that the impact of work-life balance is a relevant factor in this estimation, a result that is consistent with those reported in previous studies (Rodríguez and Dabos, 2017;Sirgy and Lee, 2018;Brough et al, 2014;Deery and Jago, 2015). This balance is very important for millennial workers, who value free time; however, when the balance is disrupted, dissatisfaction and lack of commitment are generated, resulting in the pursuit of new job opportunities (Capell, 2018).…”

“…The work‐family life conflict refers to the absence of balance between work and family life, that is, as the conflict increases, the balance between these roles decreases (Grzywacz & Carlson, 2007). Similarly, it contradicts what was found by Rodriguez and Dabos (2017) for whom transitions between domains minimize the appreciation of role overload in the individual, while increasing their perception of work‐life conflict. That is, when people experience the sensation of role overload, their participation in inter‐role transitions increases; reallocating resources from one domain (e.g., work) to the other domain that is overloaded (e.g., family life).…”

“…This can be explained by the fact that the effect of the integration preference is not absolute and depends on directionality; that is, while the integration between the transition from the family role to the work role helps to increase the work‐life balance, the integration between the transition from the work role to the family role decreases this balance (Olson‐Buchanan & Boswell, 2006). In addition, a high integration between the roles leads to an increase in the frequency of their transitions as well as the possibility of unpredictable transitions (Ashforth et al., 2000), which can lead to greater conflict and lower work‐family life balance (Rodriguez & Dabos, 2017). On the other hand, role segmentation is perceived to be a productive way of balancing work and family life (Park & Jex, 2011); however, segmentation preferences are perceived to be more productive when making transitions from family role to work role.…”
