Glass Binder in Thick Film Metallization Paste for AlN

Abstract: In this paper, the sol-gel process was used to synthesize a glass binder in thick-film paste for aluminum nitride (AlN) metallization. Some major factors that influenced the sol-gel process including PH value, quantity of water were discussed in detail. The xerogel was analyzed by means of TG-DSC in order to determine its optimum heat treatment process. Meanwhile, the sintering behavior of silver/glass composite thick film had been studied by varying the glass content. The results show that a glass powder of a… Show more

“…Perovskite structure BNT ceramics reported by Smolensky et al [1] is considered as the one of the candidates for lead-free piezoelectric ceramics because of its strong ferroelectric properties and high Curie temperature (T c = 320 o C). At room temperature, BNT ceramics are strongly ferroelectric with a relatively large remnant polarization and large coercive field of 70 kV/cm Some modifications of BNT ceramics have proved to be helpful by forming solid solution with other perovskite oxides, [2][3][4][5][6][7][8] such as CaTiO 3 ,[2] BaTiO 3 ,[3] La 0.01 TiO 3 ,[4] BiScO 3 , [5] (Sr 0.5 Ca 0.5 )TiO 3 , [6] Ba(Ti 0.92 Sn 0.08 )O 3 , [7] (Bi 0.5 K 0.5 )TiO 3 , [8] etc. (Bi 0.5 K 0.5 )TiO3 ceramics are lead-free piezoelectric materials, which have a tetragonal symmetry at room temperature and show good piezoelectric response.…”
