Global Trends in Research of Gouty Arthritis Over Past Decade: A Bibliometric Analysis

Abstract: Gouty arthritis (GA), as a multifactorial disease, is characterised by intense pain, active inflammation symptoms, and swollen joints. It has utterly complex pathogenesis, of which the amount of research publications on GA has increased during the last few decades. A bibliometric analysis was carried out to investigate the trends, frontiers, and hot spots in global scientific output in GA research over the last decade. We retrieved the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-Expanded) of the Web of Science Core C… Show more

“…While the number of documents fluctuated and declined at certain time points, the overall trend gradually increased and reached its peak in 2021, with 175 papers, suggesting that the field of APS has attracted increasing attention from experts and scholars. In the work of Deng et al and Liu et al, similar increasing trends were described ( Deng et al, 2022b ; Liu et al, 2022 ).…”

“…Bibliometric analysis is a novel science to analyze the contributions of countries or regions, institutions, authors and journals to a certain research field (Yin et al, 2021;Yin M. C. et al, 2022). In addition, bibliometric analysis can predict research hotspots and trends in a certain research field through information visualization (Cooper, 2015;Deng et al, 2022). However, bibliometric analysis has rarely been applied to the field of biomaterials research in osteogenesis.…”

“…The number of publications (Nps) was used to measure the output capacity of an author, institution, or country in a field. The number of citations (Ncs) and the global citations score (GCS) were used to determine the growth of scientific impact ( 16 ). The H-index was designed to assess the academic contributions of researchers, affiliations, and countries and predict future scientific accomplishments ( 17 ).…”
