Global Warming and Its Health Impact

Abstract: Since the mid-19 th century, human activities have increased greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide in the Earth's atmosphere that resulted in increased average temperature. The effects of rising temperature include soil degradation, loss of productivity of agricultural land, desertification, loss of biodiversity, degradation of ecosystems, reduced fresh-water resources, acidification of the oceans, and the disruption and depletion of stratospheric ozone. All these have an impact o… Show more

“…Fever may occur due to infection by microbes, being exposed to excessive heat in the environment heat or when engaged in strenuous physically demanding work [1][2][3][4]. Furthermore, recent studies have shown that global climate change resulting in global temperature rise can lead to increase in incidence of both communicable and non-communicable diseases and other symptoms including fever [5][6][7][8][9][10]. Fever is used by many in determining if an individual is in a healthy state or not, underlying the importance attached to it [1,3,4,11].…”

“…Estas alteraciones pueden incluir la aparición de nuevos síndromes o un cambio en la prevalencia de enfermedades existentes, especialmente las que se transmiten por insectos, debido a que no todos los patógenos son igualmente afectados por el cambio climático. Para algunas especies puede significar un aumento de área de influencia y para otras puede significar una disminución (32,38,39) .…”
