GPI-Anchored Protein Homolog IcFBR1 Functions Directly in Morphological Development of Isaria cicadae

Abstract: Isaria cicadae is a famous edible and medicinal fungus in China and Asia. The molecular basis of morphogenesis and synnemal formation needs to be understood in more detail because this is the main source of biomass production in I. cicadae. In the present study, a fruiting body formation-related gene with a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) anchoring protein (GPI-Ap) gene homolog IcFBR1 was identified by screening random insertion mutants. Targeted deletion of IcFBR1 resulted in abnormal formation of synnemat… Show more

“…The transformation of bacteria was achieved by the freeze-thaw method. The fungal transformation procedure was conducted in accordance with the methodology described by Li et al (2022a) . The knockout mutants were confirmed as a single copy via qPCR using the 2 –∆∆CT method and were repeated three times.…”

“…Methyltransferases (MTs) are a class of pivotal enzymes that are widely distributed in animals, plants, and microorganisms, playing an indispensable role in the regulation of growth, development, and secondary metabolism ( Bohnsack et al, 2019 ; Li et al, 2022a ; Ramdhan and Li, 2022 ). In RNA methylation modifications, SAM is commonly utilized as a methyl donor for methylation reactions, thereby regulating cellular growth and development, repairing gene damage, and facilitating the synthesis and degradation of metabolites ( Liscombe et al, 2012 ).…”
