Graphical interface as a teaching aid for nonlinear dynamical systems

Abstract: Chaos theory is an important breakthrough in understanding nonlinear dynamical systems. It is generally accepted that chaotic systems involve transitivity, a high density of periodic points in metric space, and extreme sensitivity to changes in initial conditions. Many systems taught on undergraduate courses satisfy these conditions, such as electronic circuits or computer simulations of nonlinear dynamical systems. However, a good understanding of these concepts is broadly difficult to achieve on such courses… Show more

“…For example, it is used to study nonlinear dynamics by applying methods to better understand computational simulations in different environments. Furthermore, using MATLAB runtime, Silva et al elaborated GUI as a teaching aid for dynamic systems, focusing on chaotic systems [3]. e GUI is a useful tool to mitigate challenges human being can face such us crowd disasters, crime, terrorism, wars, and diseases.…”

“…In particular, as a rich character in many nonlinear problems. The hidden attractors have not been studied thoroughly in many realistic chaotic systems, such as some deep-seated complex behaviors (Dudkowski et al , 2018; Perc, 2005; Silva et al , 2018; Liu and Yang, 2010; Li and Sprott, 2018; Li et al , 2018b; Jafari et al , 2013, 2017). The proposed disk dynamo (1) means the magnetic field inside the liquid part of the Earth’s core will be much more complex than that at the surface.…”

“…For this reason, the incorporation of GUI in a software allows the professor to approach the presentation of complex concepts in a simple way, thus facilitating improved understanding of a student. [5][6][7][8][9] Although this approach is attractive, an associated problem is the cost of the licensed software and its limitations in terms of knowledge of the implementations included. In addition, it should be noted that there are other solutions for the scientific-educational market (such as Quansar a , among many others) that include nonfree licenses that in some cases are expensive and that offer off-the-shelf, completely, self-contained, and require no modification by the educator, but at the same time in some cases they do not cover everything that educator needs because this is a closed package.…”

“…For example, the use of simulators developed with a specific calculation software can provide very good results in an educational context as it is shown below and other works 3,4 among others. For this reason, the incorporation of GUI in a software allows the professor to approach the presentation of complex concepts in a simple way, thus facilitating improved understanding of a student 5‐9 …”
