GRAV-MAG SUITE - An open source MATLAB-based program for processing potential field data

Abstract: GRAV-MAG SUITE is a MATLAB-based program that has been developed for processing potential field data. The program is composed by several tools, which involve miscellaneous field transformations and enhancing filters, semiquantitative methods, and simple shape forward modeling algorithms. GRAV-MAG SUITE provides a graphical user interface (GUI) that facilitates the user's interaction with the program. In order to illustrate the program functionalities, a set of tools will be applied on a synthetic data composed… Show more

“…In order to automate the described process, we used a MATLAB graphical user interface named as LGM -Lithogeophysical Maps. The LGM is inserted in the GRAV-MAG SUITE (Castro et al 2018), which could be used to process potential field data. The LGM program separately processes the AGRS data for each radioelement and then combines the products in a single map.…”

“…The TDR+TDX and TDR-TDX filters are implemented within GRAV-MAG SUITE, an open-source MATLAB© graphical environment for processing potential field data (Castro et al, 2018). For implementation in Geosoft's Oasis Montaj© package, we recommend to compute the local phase filters (TDR and TDX) in the "Grid Math Expression Builder" section of "Grid and Image" menu to ensure that all filters will be enclosed in the range…”

“…Interpolation technique serves as edge detection and can be used as a smoothening tool on existing data. There are different alternative interpolation methods such as linear, nearest, bilinear, next, previous, p-chip, cubic, bicubic, v5cubic, maxima or spline [4]. The MATLAB algorithm was used with linear, nearest neighbour and piecewise cubic interpolant to determine the interpolation RMI field distribution from the measured magnetic data.…”
