Pembangunan sektor peternakan diprioritaskan untuk meningkatkan produksi daging dan populasi ternak guna mencapai swasembada daging asal ternak agar meningkatkan taraf hidup petani peternak. Penelitian bertujuan mengkaji secara konferehensif dinamika populasi dan strategi pengembangan ternak sapi potong di Kabupaten Muna yang dimulai pada bulan Januari-Agustus 2022 dengan penentuan lokasi secara purposive sampling. Populasi penelitian adalah kelompok peternak sapi penerima bantuan yang dilakukan secara sensus kepadakelompok peternak sebanyak 8 kelompok menggunakan bantuan quisioner yang selanjutnya dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil analisis menunjukkan dinamika populasi ternak rata-rata 9 ekor/tahun yang didukung dengan peningkatan luas lahan dan bertambahnya jumlah kandang namun permasalahan yang dihadapi yakni usaha hanya dijadikan sebagai usaha sambilan, sistem kelembagaan belum optimal, dan sistem pemeliharaan ternak ekstensif. Faktor pendukung pengembangan usaha yaitu semakin meningkatnya harga dan kebutuhan akan daging sapi dan lahan pengembangan terrnak. Strategi pengembangan usaha dapat dilakukan melalui pembinaan manajemen usaha, mengarahkan usaha yang berorientasi pasar, perlunya peningkatan peran dan kinerja penyuluh, pemanfaatan sumber daya lahan, dan pengembangan hijauan pakan ternak

The ruminant livestock population in Southeast Sulawesi in 2021 for goats is spread evenly in 17 urban districts with a total of 195,575 heads. Goat farming in general in Southeast Sulawesi does not yet have a clear direction and purpose because breeders who raise goats are still extensive or semi-intensive. Local goats such as the Kacang goat and the Ettawa breed are the types of goats that are kept by many breeders in this area. Southeast Sulawesi has 69 mining business units with the largest area in North Konawe Regency at 2.400.6 hectares, Kolaka Regency at 1.215.28 hectares, and South Konawe Regency with 3.686.27 hectares owned by PT Antam Tbk and PT Vale Indonesia Tbk. This study explicitly examines the resources of local goat breeders in the post-mining land area in Polamalaa District, Kolaka Regency with a purposive sampling technique. The findings are then analyzed descriptively to reveal the actual phenomena and events that occurred during the research. The findings showed that the average age of the respondents as local goat breeders ranged from 46-60 years, which was dominated by men with the lowest level of education who had not graduated from elementary school. In addition to having a job as a breeder, the majority of breeders work in the food crop agriculture sector with more than 15-20 years of farming experience

Plant Diversity in Teak Forest Areas as a Source of Animal Feed in Muna District, Indonesia

Plants in teak forest areas are often used by breeders in Muna Regency as a source of animal feed. However, until now these plant species have not been known in detail, especially forage for livestock. This study will specifically examine the diversity of plants found in the teak forest area in Watopute District, Muna Regency starting from August to December 2022 using the Summed Dominance Ratio which aims to compare which plant species dominate the teak forest area in Muna Regency. The findings showed that the most abundant plant species was Pennisetum purpureum, both those controlling the growing facilities and as a potential feed source.
