Green synthesis of silver nanoparticles using Glaucium corniculatum (L.) Curtis extract and evaluation of its antibacterial activity

Abstract: The metal nanoparticles, due to interesting features such as electrical, optical, chemical and magnetic properties, have been investigated repeatedly. Also, the mentioned nanoparticles have specific uses in terms of their antibacterial activity. The biosynthesis method is more appropriate than the chemical method for producing the nanoparticles because it does not need any special facilities; it is also economically affordable. In the current study, the silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were obtained by using a ver… Show more

“…Among metallic nanoparticles, silver nanoparticles have strong, light, catalytic and antimicrobial properties (27,28). One of the goals of research in the field of green technology (environmentally friendly) in the field of nanoparticles synthesis is to minimize potential risks in the production process and use for humans, as well as the environment (29,30). One of these measures is finding a route to synthesize nanoparticles that decrease the potential risks and dangerous by products of synthesis and optimize the use of these nanomaterials.…”

“…Chemically synthesized NPs may be coated with compounds that are used in the synthesis process that limits their application in clinical studies because even the associated impurities in trace amounts can emanate from these experiments. In contrast, the biosynthesis nanoparticles may not have these restrictions [21][22][23][24].…”

“…Synthesis of nanoparticles (NPs) by green chemistry is a cheap, non-toxic, and eco-friendly method, which is related to different organisms, such as algae [10], fungi [11], and plant extracts [12]. Plants are stable and accessible sources for the preparation of biocompatible NPs [13][14][15]. Different NPs with narrow distribution sizes and toxic-free solvents can be produced by controlling the biosynthesis method.…”
